how they ate
In Roman times the rich ancient romans enjoyed huge banquets where they ate lying on their sides on couches while being entertained by dancers and musicians. As they didn't have food utensils ie. knives, forks or spoons, they used their hands to shovel food into their mouths, this made a huge mess everywhere with food falling on the ground. When they were full of food they had a habit of vomiting so they could continue to feast on more food.
